Meet 22 year old twins Danielle and Chanetelle Piper. The twins were born in New York and raised in Ghana, West Africa but they always knew they’d eventually return to New York to pursue their dreams! Upon their return these beauties began their career in fashion but don’t get it twisted, they’re more than just pretty faces, they’re also designers!!
Chantelle has a fashion accessories line name Treasure Chest Jewelry. The handmade pieces are very affordable and will glam up any outfit you pair them with. The collection features cultured pearls, crystals, sand stones and beautiful beaded creations. Chantelle has worked with labels such as DVF, Seven for All Mankind and Juicy Couture.
Kastle Designs is Danielle’s label and features beautiful cocktail and evening dresses. These unique dresses will make heads turn and leave people asking “who is she wearing?” My favorite piece in this collection is the “Marie Metallic” (on the left) dress. I love it because it’s short and has a vintage look with a modern feel. Danielle has had editorials in Women’s Wear Daily, Fashion Manuscript, and Textile World. I was able to interview the twins about their love for fashion, here’s what they had to say:
Q: When did you start designing?
A: We started designing at a very young age. Growing up our mother would sew our uniforms for school, and we would always sketch out designs for pieces we hoped to create
Q: How did you get into fashion design?
A: We studied fashion design at the High School of Fashion Industries
Q: When were your lines launched?
A: Our lines were launched during the 2010 New York Fashion Week at the Gates.
Q: What influences your designs?
A: Every season we have a new inspiration. However, our designs are ALWAYS glamorous, sweet, soft, elegant and classy.
Q: What are some of your accomplishments as designers?
A: Our accomplishments as designers, was starting and launching our lines Kastle Designs, and Treasure Chest Jewelry. It is a wonderful feeling having your own business and watching it grow.
Q: What is the most difficult aspect of running your own label, i.e. design, production, sales, finance, advertising?
A: We wouldn’t consider anything to be difficult because we have a strong background in Fashion and business, and we are up for any challenges that may come our way.
Q: If you could dress any celebrity who would it be and why?
A: We would love to dress Ciara. She is a walking goddess, and she exudes femininity and style!

A: Nature, architecture, Culture,
Q: What do you enjoy most about designing clothing/jewelry?
A: We enjoy the sense of creative and intellectual fulfillment we get from designing. It is a way for us to unleash our freedom of expression, sharing our style with the world, and making it a more beautiful place.
Q: What one piece of advice would you give to someone wanting to start a career in fashion?
A: GO FOR IT!!!!! JUST DO IT! J
